Wings

Today I continued working on the Duckworks landing light installation.

First, I drilled the retainer strips to the skin. You can see three #40 holes if you look close, right at the edge of the blue vinyl. Then I riveted the nutplates to the bracket that goes inside the wing that holds the light. Then I installed the bulb in the light, and the light onto the bracket (no pictures... sorry). It went back in the box for now. I won't actually install it in the wing until the wing is all finished and all the hammering and riveting is done.

Then, as you can see above, I positioned the lens in place and carefully marked it where it needs to be cut. It's cold in Oregon on a January night, so I'm going to have to figure out how to warm this operation up before I attempt to cut and drill the lens. I hear over and over about how plexiglass like this is supposed to be worked when it's warm so you don't crack it. I don't want to risk it.
