Wings

Fabricated the Doubler - 2 hrs.

Today I pulled the skins off and fabricated the doubler skin that goes under the wing walk area to strengthen it.

You can't see it here, but the doubler skin is underneath the top main skin shown here, taped on to hold it in place. I'm drilling it to match the top skin and clecoing it as I go. I have some scrap wood underneath that I'm drilling into

When it was finished, I put the skins back on the wing and clecoed them in place. This is the top of the left wing, and I'm now ready to match-drill the skins to the ribs.

Here are the bottom skins clecoed in place, and also ready for drilling to the ribs. Lots of drilling coming up! But it may have to wait a while. I MUST get my house painted before the winter rains start and summer is rapidly coming to an end. I can't put it off any longer. It may be a couple of weeks before I can resume work here.
