Finishing Kit

A New Toy! (er... Tool) - 1.0 hrs.

I was browsing a friends website the other day to check on his progress, and came across an item that I knew nothing about. I didn't know that Vans carried this item, but when I saw it, I knew immediately that I needed to get one. So when I went down to Vans the other day, I picked one up. It's a wrench for the axle nut! It's thin, lightweight, and it allows you to adjust the axle nut while being able to see where the cotter pin goes. It can be put together in a short session. And it was only $8.00! Thanks, Ed Lynn, for putting this on your site so I could find it!

So I deburred the parts and riveted it together. This was fun. It kind of reminded me of the original toolbox kit that I put together way back before I started on the empennage. Just a fun little project. Here it is about an hour later:

The instructions have you file a few strokes on the inner surfaces, until it fits over the axle nut okay. So here it is, all finished.

I think this will be the first item to put in that toolbox I made way back when. I'm looking forward to using it!
