This work session was a lot of boring prep work. Not a lot of pictures. But it has to be done, right? So I took the whole canopy frame assembly off the plane, took everything apart, and spent quite a bit of time on this. My goal was to rivet everything together, but then I got to thinking how hard it would be to scuff, clean, and prime all this stuff when it's all riveted together. Seems to me it would be MUCH easier now while it's in pieces. So I dug in and got to work on it. It's bad enough when it's in pieces. This is my least favorite part of this project, but as I said, it has to be done. I feel kind of like the guy in the old joke who is found sitting there hitting his head against the wall. When they ask him "why are you doing that?" he says "because it feels so good when I stop!" It feels good like that when I get this stuff done. Here are all the parts as I finished them today, primed and ready to go.

There's still a lot of work that needs to be done before this is finished. All the holes need to be countersunk for the skin dimples, for one thing. But I think it was smart to get this done and primed now. I can always spot prime or touch up areas that need it later.
