Priming and Riveting the F-706 Bulkhead - 4.0 Hrs.

Today was a big day. Any day when you get to permanently rivet stuff together, it's a big day. You do all this work for a little bit of riveting time.

Here the bottom piece of the bulkhead ring is riveted to the center reinforcing plate and the bellcrank rib. This required more than the normal amount of attention to riveting detail. Some of the rivets are flush, some are to be done later on, and you have to do things in a certain order to get it all together and done correctly. I ended up drilling out some of these and doing them over before getting it right. My only regret is that I didn't drill the 5/8" holes for the snap-bushings first. You'll see more on a future page as to why.

Then I clecoed the other two parts of the ring and the vertical bellcrank channel to the bottom assembly. The rest of the riveting will have to wait. There's not much left. The hard part is finished. But at least you can see how the finished bulkhead looks.
