Slips, Trips, and Falls

Artificial Disc Replacement in Cervical and Lumbar Spine

Our next meeting will be at the usual location, Bellevue City Hall, on Thursday, November 13, 2008, from 7 to 9 pm. It will be in Room 1E-120 on the first floor. However, you may wish to come early. Sunrise Medical Consultants has graciously offered to sponsor a light dinner beginning at 6:30 pm, with opportunity for networking, etc. If you are coming please RSVP by Monday, November 10 th so I can let Kristi know how many people to expect. If you're not coming, no need to reply.

The speaker scheduled for 7-8 pm canceled, so I'm going to fill it this slot with a talk on slips, trips, and falls. I prepared this presentation because no one seems to talk about this topic, yet next to motor vehicle collisions these are the most common source of personal injury claims, and a common source of occupational injuries as well. I learned a lot putting the talk together, and think you might also find it informative.

From 8-9 pm Seattle orthopedic surgeon Jay Williams, MD will be speaking on cervical and lumbar artificial disc replacement. Such surgeries offer a lot of hope, albeit with a significant potential risks. Dr. Williams has a lot of expertise with such surgeries, and anyone who treats neck and back pain will benefit from learning more about this treatment option.

Helpful information to be found on this page will consist of speaker biographies, and meeting hand outs when available. If an organization sponsors a meeting, a link to their site will be made available as well.

LINKS

The "LINKS" page will be where a number of helpful links will be published. Links to organizations with a focus on IME work and eduction,and links to relevant articles. There will also be links to WAIME sponsors and meeting material downloads. This page will serve as a repository for the various links that will appear throughout the website from time to time.

IMESearch

The "IMESearch" page will be where people or organizations looking for an IME professional should be directed. They will be able to see a listing of WAIME members along with their specialty and contact information.

While the listing is presented in a better manner than on the last WAIME site, this page is still under development. Search functionality will be added in the near future so the listing can be filtered by specialty or geographic loction.

The Washington Association of Independent Medical Examiners,WAIME, is a professional association, does not accept referrals directly, and is not sponsored by any other group or interest. It is strictly non-profit. We hope that this service will be valuable not only to medical practitioners, but also attorneys, claims adjustor and legislators.
