LISA GIDLEY
Lisa Gidley
makes color photographs. She lives in Portland, Oregon,
with her husband, writer Douglas Wolk; their toddler son,
Sterling; and a cat named Edie.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Lisa also lived in
Washington, D.C., and New York City before heading to
Oregon; she’d describe herself as a Midwestern New
Yorker transplanted to the West Coast. It was in New York
that she fell in love with photography, and she studied at
the International Center of Photography there.
For the techies: Most of Lisa's shots for the Grid Project
are taken with a medium-format film camera, the Bronica
GS-1. Lisa appreciates digital technologies but isn’t
ready to let film give up the ghost just
yet.
