Welcome

Whether you are still working, have recently lost your job, or are assisting others in finding work, we would like to welcome you to this Website.  It’s purpose is twofold. First, it is to familiarize you with the course Real World Job Search & Resume Writing.  And second, it is to give you an interactive means of getting answers to your questions through extensive FAQs about confusing aspects of the employment process.  The next section of this Website is Organization which outlines the contents of the course.

Real World Job Search & Resume Writing is more than a group of tips for people who are writing resumes and looking for work.  It is actually a short course in employment not found elsewhere for the average person.  The problem is that most people spend most of their lives working and only on rare occasions are they forced to develop job-hunting skills and acquire the knowledge to do it successfully.  This is why most are not very good at it—lack of experience and trustworthy information.

What is truly amazing is the lack of effort on the part of public schools to provide these important life skills and training that everyone needs.  Few of us go through life without being forced to look for a job several times.  And when it happens, the emotional and financial costs are often traumatic.

Because this course is more comprehensive, its applications are threefold: (1) Use by individuals for job-hunting, (2) Use by schools, churches and other organizations that train people in job search, and (3) A gift to employees whom companies are laying off as a goodwill gesture that benefits both the company and the employee.

About Us

History.  PAR first published How to Make Better Grades, a book to help meet the educational crisis brought on by Russia’s launch of Sputnik, the first space satellite, in 1957.  A short time later, it was published nationally by Grosset & Dunlap in New York and was in print for about nine years.  Over the years PAR has published self-help materials in job search and resume writing, Page Designs Quick! and Page Designs Quick! 5 (two software programs for newsletter and newspaper layout), a book entitled Desktop Publisher’s Guide to Small Publication Layout and Production, and our course Parent’s Guide to Teaching Phonics that is the basis for our program Phonics for Parents.  Our latest course is Real World Job Search & Resume Writing that is designed to help meet the employment challenges that so many of us face.

Philosophy.  Our philosophy has always been to publish only when we have a creative product that makes a substantial contribution toward solving a problem that affects people’s lives in some major way.  Otherwise, why expend the time, effort and money that these projects take?  We also feel that our products should be easy to use and should be affordable to as many people as possible. This is especially important for people who are out of work.  If you as a customer have any comments or suggestions, we are always interested in hearing from you.  Feedback is essential to our improvement.

Policies.  This course like all of our previous products comes with an unconditional satisfaction money-back guarantee.  We certainly don’t want you to pay for something that is not working for you.  Just return the disk in 15 days, and we will refund the full purchase price.  If you ever receive a defective disk, notify us immediately and we will send you another.  Shipping is USPS first class or priority mail.  The price of the course includes one CD for the PC with over 185 MB of sound files and 21 files of visual material.
