Archive collection. Battle
of Britain, Commemorating 60 Years. I think
this was my first Emil; it is definitely Corgi's first. Very nice.
I wanted to get another copy because this one came with a chip of
paint missing from the nose, but could never locate one.
Smoke and mirrors.
For those who care, I'm back to the old "mat", which is
actually the backside of a poor-quality piece of paneling I found
at a big-box building-supply store. The stain applied to the front
seeped through to create the splotched pattern that can be seen in
these pictures. Should have bought two sheets, because I cut the first
one up in so many ways that the entire 4' X 8' panel has now disappeared.
The upside-down paneling is covered with an eighth-inch thick sheet
of clear plastic -- which attracts dust like mad, and has to be continually
cleaned. The dark backdrop is a piece of mid-priced black satin bought
at a sewing-supply store, taped to a 24"-square remnant of half-inch
plywood. The "sky" is a sheet of printed paper bought at
a school-supply store -- my third role -- which is taped to a cardboard
bi-fold. The camera is NOT a pinhole in a piece of paper, but everything
else is like miniaturized Broadway stage-set fakery. |
