The ONYX Series
The ONYX camera line provides portable, easy-to-use video magnification solutions in three distinct viewing modes: distance views, document views, and mirror-image self views
The Portable, Versatile Answer to Low Vision Needs
For students, professionals, and others with macular
degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, or other forms of
vision loss, the ONYX Deskset is the magnification
solution that goes where you go in one easy-to-carry
self-contained package. It fits in any classroom,
business, or home and moves from one viewing situation
to the next as quickly as you do. Carry it about with a
top-mounted carrying handle, and plug it into any
standard wall plug; it’s ready to deliver crisp, clear
magnification up to 85x.
The ONYX Deskset features a camera mounted on a
rotating arm to a 17-inch or a 19-inch flat panel monitor. The camera
’s mounting arm has three axes, and the camera itself
rotates up to 350 degrees. Place it in an almost endless
number of positions to fit any viewing requirement. The
camera mounts on either side of the monitor to best
accommodate the task at hand.
Three Ways to Magnify
The ONYX Deskset offers three distinct views:
distance view, document view, and self view.
In distance view, even objects from across
large rooms or auditoriums can be seen in sharp focus.
Document view gives you the ability to
magnify items such as reading materials, daily business
tasks, classroom assignments, product labels, and craft
projects.
With self view, you get a magnified true
mirror image close up. Making it even easier to use, the
camera remembers its settings in each position so you
can switch back and forth between viewing modes without
refocusing or otherwise readjusting the camera.
The ONYX Deskset also features:
-
A choice of full color mode, enhanced black on white positive, enhanced white on black negative, and inverse color mode
-
A range of brightness adjustments to eliminate glare and enable viewing in low light
Masking and Reading Lines -
A compact, lightweight design — a mere 12 lbs.
-
A Find feature to easily establish viewing perspective on an image prior to zooming
-
A unique, pocket-sized RF remote control that, unlike typical infrared remote control units, does not need to be pointed at the camera to work
-
Focus Lock to keep an object or document crisp and clear when working or writing under the camera
-
Freeze Frame to provide ample time to carefully review or inspect images
The ONYX™ Swing-arm works with your TV to deliver magnification up to 100x, based on a 20-inch NTSC TV screen. Use it in any room where there is a TV – it’s small, lightweight, and portable. The Swing-arm provides distance views, document views, and self views.
This
small yet powerful camera provides magnification up to
100x and is uniquely mounted on a swinging arm to
provide you with three distinct views: distance,
document, and self views. Easily connects to any NTSC TV
for an affordable video magnification solution.
The 11 3/8-inch workspace under the camera provides the
room you need to work on objects with your hands and
tools. Use the Find Feature to aim at a distant object
before zooming in. Auto Focus eliminates the need for
constant refocusing as the viewing field changes.
Putting You in Control
Change the magnification, brightness, contrast, and
tracking features with a unique and easy-to-use RF
remote control.
Use Focus Lock to keep an object or document in focus
when working or writing under the camera. There is no
need to touch the camera once it has been set, and you
don't even need to point the remote control at the
camera as with an infrared remote control.

Productivity in Overdrive
Increase your productivity by quickly capturing multiple
snapshot views of a blackboard, for example, so that you
can easily flip through them on your PC rather than
constantly panning and readjusting the camera. Capture
blackboard or presentation images before they are erased
or removed and save them as your notes.
The unique Position Sensor function retains your
settings in each of the three modes — distance view,
document view, and self view — so there is no need to
readjust the camera as you move from one view to another
and back again.
Total Fingertip Control
The easy-to-use RF remote control means there is no
touching or jiggling the camera once it is aimed. And
because the remote control does not need to be pointed
at the camera — as is the case with a typical infrared
remote control unit — ONYX Swing-arm PC Edition users
have complete freedom of movement.
