-- AKC Studbook, 1888, Vol.V
""Lad of Bow" -- His dam was "Climax", who was also the dam of "Kent Baby", the dam of "King of Kent", therefore in the tail female line he gest the blood of "Champion Mike", which infusion is considered the great fountainhead of modern field trial winners. "Climax" was
by "Price's Bang" out of "Juno", the latter being by "Champion Mike" out of "Bastin's Belle", so from the viewpoint of breeding, we must let "Lad of Bow" into the "four hundred" on account of the fashionable blood lines of his dam."
-- Hochwalt, 1911
""Lad of Bow", "Graphic's" most noted son, was whelped March 19, 1884, just a little more than a year before Graphic was imported. He was bred by Sam Price and his dam was none other than "Price's Climax", the daughter of Price's Bang and Juno, by Mike, out of Bastin's Belle. ... "Lad of Bow" was in every sense of the word a well balanced combination of his sire and dam, for "Climax" was without a doubt one of the best bitches ever bred by Sam Price. She not only was the mother of Lad and Lass of Bow, but of a number other winners on the bench and in the field, among them being "Belle of Bow", "Meally" and "Climax of Braunfels"."
