"The dam of "Gorham's Jing", "Pontone", was a solid black. She was by "Oakwood Rock", a black dog with a white stripe down his breast, who was by "Rank" out of "Jill", both Pape blacks. "Pontone's" dam, "Lady Hope", was a liver and white; she was by "Rene Croxteth" ("Devonshire Sam" - "Nellie Bang") out of "Lola Ree" ("Devonshire Sam" - "Della S"). "Rank", the sire of "Oakwood Rock" was by "Maximus" out of "Lady Pape", while "Jill" was by "Crow" out of "Queen".
