Learning HTML

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) is the set of markup symbols or codes inserted in a file intended for display on a World Wide Web browser page. The markup tells the Web browser how to display a Web page's words and images for the user.

HTML is the most common scripting language used to build web pages.
You can see exactly how a page is coded by using the "view source" command in your browser. You can even do it for this page :).
Here is how you do this in the most common browsers
  • Internet Explorer: Click on "View" (in the toolbar) and select "Source"
  • Netscape or Mozilla: Click on "View" and select "Page Source"
  • Opera 6 or 7: Click on "View" and select "Source"
